The motor of the bottom dryer on one of my ADC stacks is getting really hot and causing the breaker to shut off. I reached in behind the motor to "clear the lint out of the motor air vent" but I guess that's not where it is located. Can anyone help me out with the cause of the problem? The dryer runs for a while and then shuts off in mid-dry, then when it cools a little bit, it starts up again automatically. The manual says it could be lint clogging the motor air vent, however I don't know where the vent is to clean it out.

Most ADC's use a TEFC motor. There really is no air vent as the motor is totally enclosed. On this type motor you should see an a fan at the rear motor cover. ( this cover only covers the fan and offers no access to the motor.
I've noticed some of the newer ADC's are using a cheeper open type motor. If this is your case, blow out , through any open holes, with a compressor. An overheated motor should trip the klixon, not the circuit breaker. When you have a problem that you want help with ,you need to supply more and better information. How old, What model, what voltage, Amp rating of circuit breaker,ect.... Have you swapped the breaker to see if the breaker is faulty ? HAVE YOU TESTED THE MOTOR FOR CURRANT DRAW.?

It's a very old ADC (AD330, I think). Actually, it's branded as a primus but is identical to my 330's. The circuit breaker is 20 amp. Are you talking about the blower cage possibly being filled with lint? I had one a few weeks ago that I had to remove the bearing, then take the blower cage out as it was broken and had jammed thus not allowing the tub to turn at all. I don't think this is the problem here as it seems the motor is simply overheating and blowing the breaker. It's not a faulty breaker as it only blows when the bottom dryer is running.

No he is talking about the fan located within the motor. It is used to keep the motor cool duting operation. Linke TTLES said it could be several things including a faulty breaker. What I do in this pcase is to move the breaker to another spot in the panel and wait for it too happen again.

Based on the fact that you say that the motor is getting very hot I would just replaced the motor.

Can you explain to this guy about the two breakers on a 330. And IF he's got a 330 I would check the fan bearing., and cylinder bearings... If ok,.... I would say the motor also, although I would run a current amp draw test first.
