I have a SQ toploader, model #EA1121LP that keeps going out of balance. I thought maybe the customers were overloading it, so I washed a small load of towels, and it still went out of balance. It starts spinning out the water, and then within a couple of seconds it is wobbling so much that it hits the out of balnce switch (I watched it with the front cover off). It has all 5 springs that hold the drum in place, and they seem to be hooked in the right slot on the drum.
Any ideas? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

If the tub has very liberal movement side to side you may have grease/oil on the snubber ring. That is the thing the round shaped bottom of the tub assembly sits on at the bottom of the washer. If it gets to slippery the tub has to much movement and will go OOB to easy. You have to take the tub moduale out and clean or replace the snub pad. The downside is the trany may be leaking and cuasing the extra oil on the pads...

if you are real lucky and prayers get answered you can spray the round bottom area with Brake Klean or soemthing like that, trying to wipe any extra oil/grease as you go. Tilt the washer as far as you can while wipping the ring. 30/70 chance it might work. Still got to find where the oil came from

So d eso it go out of balance again after stopping it and making sure everything is evenly distributed in the tub? We have one with the same problem, except in our case the brakes were bad, causing everything to get tangled during the wash cycle.

I recently replaced the snubber pads on a speedqueen toploader because it would go out of balance without even putting clothes in it.
In this case the snubber pads were gone. I purchased this mat a few months ago and I can remember watching this machine out of balance and the previous owner telling me sometimes you have to balance the clothes for your customers so the machines don't take a beating. As we discuss the terms of selling his laundry business I remember hearing a bunch of thud sounds from across the room - It was the same machine out of balance again. Again he told me "these people wash and act like they can't hear the noise because their clothes are unbalanced". Needless to say i took care of that my 2nd weeek as the new owner.

Pete F., It does not have very liberal movement from side to side, which really suprises me. But I will check the snubber pads anyway. thanks for the info.
BWP, yes it does go out of balance again even after rearranging whatever is in it. I will also check the brake pads. thanks for the info.
dirty-laundry, I will run the machine tonight without anything in it to see if it still does it. thanks for the info.
