I have 5 1/2 year old front load washer from sears. Model 970-C29042-00. Sounds like a freight train running through the house, so a bearing job is in the works. My wife has also been complaining about brown stains on the clothing for some time now. I am assuming the stains are probably coming from bearing. I have not looked at the machine yet, but before I do, some advice from someone who has worked on this model would be helpful.
Sad thing is, we recommended 2 other friends to buy this unit at about the same time and they are also having problems with theirs. Should I repair or junk?
thanks, Kent

Who makes a good home front load washer? Is a Horizon washer good for the house?

My friends LOVE their Bosch. You can not even hear the things run they are so quite.

I fix washers and dryers all day, I ain't going to fix any at home!!
Buy a new one, or better yet, bring a top from your store and buy your store a new one.. If your wife really presses you, go shopping. My wife like the Harier line out of China ( soon to be the owner of Maytag) I don't like any washer i have to buy that does not have a coin slide/drop on it..

My wife like the Harier line out of China ( soon to be the owner of Maytag) Thats HAIER ...... & i read a discussion with its Chairman (from China) - he has a surprising commitment to quality, says he's particularly keen on German & U.S. made, levels of tolerance & zero-down time for any machine.
He says he "gets it" about quality & profits, & is trying to 'infect' other mfr's with this same rationale. Interesting if the whole country adopts this attitude.
I don't like any washer i have to buy that does not have a coin slide/drop on it.. Amen to THat !

I understand that Haier pulled their bid for Maytag very recently.
I have a Miele set at home. Could have paid $3K retail from Home Depot Expo, but found this set on eBay locally for less than half that. They are built like tanks. I highly recommend them.
The only other manufacturer I would consider for home is SQ tops or fronts.

I live in the back of my laundromat but even if I didn't I don't think I would have washers and dryers at home when the mat has dozens of machines and I'm going to be there for hours at a time anyway.
Think of the restaurant owner who only has a microwave at home.
