sorry about multiple questions, but I have multiple problems.Anyway,I have some old speed queen 30lb. single pocket dryers and one of the problems is that the dryer starts but won't stop turning. It will heat-up for its time, but when finished it'll keep turning.Second, one of the dryers the flame won't stay lit unless the top of the maintanance door is open and then it will work for a minute and the flame will go out.

thanks in advance!

1: Motor relay sticking 2: Lint buildup in venting. These would be my first items to look at.

What sort of dryers are these? Are they computer operated or do they have the mechanical Greenwald coin mech?

Well since your first dryer stops heating, your timer motor is OK. Your run switch is probably either bad or out of adjustment. There is a little screw that you can tighten a turn or so to fix this. Turn off the power, remove the panel with the coin drop in it, the screw you are looking for is on the left side of the drop...if you turn it over and look between the terminals on the left side you will see it. It is 3/16ths or you can use a small screw driver. Try 1 turn and test...if it still wont stop, try another turn.

Your second dryer is probably air flow as previously mentioned. Check your screen, the clean out at the bottom of the rear duct (if you have one...I don't know what model you have) and the thimble where the dampers are. Make sure the dampers move freely when you are done...dont use long screws to reattach the duct work that will prevent the dampers from opening fully. If nothing is found, test it without the duct work connected...if it works then it's time to clean the main line...I've found everything from beer bottles, to clothing to dead birds.

Hope this helps and wasn't too long winded. :)
