Back in the early 80s I opened a laundromat and named it "Suds City", now I look back and wonder what I was thinking.

We have a "Lost Sock", I think it was taken directly from what they saw in the Journal as it was renamed after a store profile was featured and the store was called Lost Sock. Personally, I think a mat that wants to advertise lost in in the title isnt a wise move.....:)

I was out of town camping and needed a laundromat. I asked around for the nicest laundromat in town and was directed to "Reba's liquor, laundry and storage." The attendant greeted me with, "You can either wash or dry but you don't have time to do both."

I recently saw 'wishy-washy' in Kauai.

It didn't even have a front on the building, was just open to the environment. Ahhh, to live in hawaii......

In Brighton, Massachusetts there are two laundromats about 2 blocks away from each other. One is named "The Lost Sock", the other one is named "The Found Sock"

Suds & Sweat is in beautiful downtown Hoboken, NJ.

Also: Soap Opera, Mr. Bubble, Whistle Clean, The Washing Well, Hubbs' Tubs, Clothes Encounters, and Wash Your Blues Away can all be found in New Jersey.

Dubois Laundromat & Carwash

not very clever, but its the only mat for 80 miles and its on the main road, so it works for me.

Du Bois is a French name meaning "of the wood" and pronounced: dybwa (using the symbols of the International Phonetic Alphabet).

However the American pronunciation is: Dew-Bwah

Moreover, if it were spelled Dubios then it would have a different meaning (doubt, skeptical, questionable)

the town was originally called Never Sweat but the post office didn't like that so they named it after a senator

we pronounce it "DU boyz" here, in protest of the name being decided by washington bureaucrats
