I have had more than a few complaints now about stains that show up after washing in these Dexter's, I assume it is the gunk in the softener tray making way to the tub. As much as I pride myself in keeping clean mats, and when I have to service a Dexter I clean the soap tray very well, I have had at least 4 issues of brown stain on clothes from washers. I think it is the brown softnergunk making its way into the washer. How to clean the stain? I will get my steam buddy out and re clean the softener trays. I also will go on record saying this is an engineering mistake, no other brand of washer builds crap in the softener dispenser like Dexter. I use to like their washer, but between the constant water on the floor due to weak door seals and the gunk out of the softener dispenser it was easy to switch brands for my new store.

I get far more softener gunk buildup in my neptune's than in my dexter t300 & t400 's

Pete,
What have you had most success with cleaning the soap buildup in the Dexter's? Have you tried different steam cleaners? I see adds on the TV for these things - which is best "bang for buck" - any other ideas?

I like to have the attendants take a brush to the softener crud when it builds up and wipe it out. I haven't had the softener stains or the door leaks that you mention in three years of operation, but I suppose it could be possible in the future.

I have the same problem with some of my softner compartments, but the Neptunes are the worst. I'd like to learn different ideas on how to keep these clean.

I do have a steam buggy, it works pretty good, though it will stain the stainless steel.... I used to scrape the crud with a butter knife, but after the first stain complaint I was afraid a piece of crud made it into the tub. My Neptunes get some buildup, but no where near like the Dexters. Within a month or two Dexters have buildup.I have a water leak at least once a month from one, someone leave a shoe string or any little piece in the door seal, it leaks. I never have leaks from my IPSO, Neptunes, or SQ's. Something gets stuck it stays stuck, but the door seal is teight and don't leak.
How to get rid of the brown softner stains?

I"ve seen issues with other washers...but to say bye to bye to dexter...I will not. If dexter have these problems,. other washers have problems of their own. If in the last 12 years, I only changed $7 water valve in my dexters - and occassional floor cleanup (not an issue since we are attendant), I certainly wouldn't want to change to another model.

ajay,
I agree - Dexter is the best - but I only see SQ's in my area. Customers can tell a difference in wash/dry time. We are selling time - after all - aren't we? Where do you get $7 water valves?

Ditto on where to get $7 valves. I have replaced about 10 so far in the last couple years, machines from 4 years old to 15 years old. Not complaining, it is expected. Mine where closer to $20.

Here is another issue I have come across on water valves, and had to replace 2 so far. If a V-series water valave gets clogged so water does not fill fast, the valve body melts and deforms. The "regular" Dexters do not have this problem, they will run dry. I have replaced the valves on both my 55 # Dexters, only a couple years old due to water flow restriction and valves burning out:(

I agree, all machines have thier own problems. The biggest issue now is the stains, which can be corrected by spending extra time cleaning I think.

Dexter softner compartment is hard to clean. SQ/Huebsch I just spray the soap box daily with Pinesol and wipe with a damp rag.

With new DEXTER they make one big rectangular opener for soap and downy so clean up is real easy.

But I have quality problem with 2 out of 5 machines that bought last
3 month.

1 Maxi load that trip circuit breaker when start final spin cycle 1 or 2 time a week, call distributor and they told me to upgrade breaker from 20A to 30A. Same problem following week then they send me timer to swap and final swap was SENTEX (spell?) switch. Machine runs a whole month without tripping breaker.

1 Mega load show up code “F 15” after coin count down to 0 two week after installed, first I thought lightning have something to do with it, cycle power and machine work ok. Last week I have 2 in a roll with same code “F 15” I called distributor and they said take off belt and inspect motor and make sure chain that trap motor down is in place. I checked all that and now yesterday I got another “F15” code. Call distributor again and tell them that they need to send me part to trouble shoot this machine and if motor need to replace they need to come in and replace it because I am not going to replace motor by myself.

pete - I have some issues with the new valves as well , when I asked them to replace - I asked them to send me the "old" styles once (blue). The white once are apparently problematic.
