I'm 23 years old and will be going back to school to major in Business with a concentration in Entrepreneurship. I'm seriously considering going into the laundry business.
I know this question has been asked a million times but can anyone give me any valuable info they deem necessary for starting up, costs, success, etc.
Those who are in the Northern, CA area especially, any info would be very appreciative since I will be going to live out there soon.
Thank You.
While I have NOT purchased my 1st laundromat yet, I have researched pretty extensively. I already have a business degree and own another business. We don't own a mat yet, because we haven't been able to find one. We currently live in the Stockton area. My husband and I are from the San Jose area. We have been looking in the South Bay Area and the Central Valley (Fresno to Sacramento).
However based on what I've read, it's better to buy an already existing mat, than to start one from scratch. This way you'll have established history to work with in determining the value and can determine what type of cash flow you'll have and it'll give you an opportunity to learn the business AND have a positive cash flow (if you do your research correctly ;-).
Good Luck to you.

Thanks for the reply.
From what I have been reading on my own, like you said in your post, it's better to buy an existing mat than build a new one. I just purchased Mandy Erickson's "StartUp, Coin Operated Laundry" book. I'm only a few pages in and it's proving to be very valuable.
Any books that you or anybody else would recommend I should study/research?
