I just raised prices on my washers by about 10%
- 18 pounders went from $1.79 to $1.99
- 27's from $2.69 to $2.99
- 30's from $2.99 to $3.29
- 50's from $4.39 to $4.69
- 80 pounder from $6.99 to $7.49

I didn't change the dryers (which are $.29 for 10 minutes), because that's the one place that people really KNOW the prices - and the temperature - right?

I use a card system, so changing the prices on 34 washers took about five minutes.

I think we are about equal or slightly more expensive than the next most expensive laundromat locally. I changed the prices two weeks ago, have not a heard a single complaint, and business has not gone down (actually, it has increased, though I'm sure it's not because of the raised prices (LOL)).

I also raised my pickup/delivery prices by 10% - and didn't lose a single customer. In fact, new ones are coming in as fast as ever.

Moral of the story (I think): As long as you're providing a good, clean, laundry service, get your prices where you need them to be - without worrying about an impending catastrophe.

My gas price was up 67% from Jan '04 to Jan '05. So with some fear I changed the time on the dryers from 7.5 min per quarter to 6.67 min per quarter. This was done 2 weeks ago. Since then I have had the busiest 2 weeks in 4 years... and not a word about the change in drying time. A month prior to changing the dryer price, I increased the price on the 25lb washers from $2.25 to $2.50. Again, no complaints.

I haven't recently increased washer prices. I'm at 50 lbr. = $5.50; 40 lbr. = $4.50; 27 lbr. = $3.25; 18 lbr. = $2.25; Tops = $2.00.

I visited the mat down the street last week. His 18 lbrs are $2.50....I think my next move will be to go to $2.50 and $3.50 for my 18's and 27's (and fairly soon).

My dryers are at $.25/6 min. I've been there since last fall.

Last May, I increased my WD&F prices from $.95/lb to $1.05/lb (with the encouragement of some on this forum). I was very worried about my customers' reactions. But in the end, like Mungo says, except for a couple of comments, no reaction. This January, with the positive experience in May, I increased comforter prices by $2. Again, no reaction.

Somewhere the reaction will come. But done gradually over time, it doesn't look like I've hit that point yet.

I was about the same as the DUMP 2 Miles UP the Road.

The change was made Jan 1 Revenue was up 5% enough to pay the additional Utilities. This Month Rev is up about 12 %.
MY Competation is not the other Laundries but the Top loaders @ $1.25 in the buildings ( 1200 units w/in 200 Yrds of the Building)

What has been the experience of Mailing List (5000 Renters) in 2 Mile Radius to promote the New Prices ?
