I have a strange problem with W74. At the end of the cycle there is always soap on the clothes. There is no drain problem with this machine. Even if you don't add soap, somehow the soap shows up during last cycle and you can see it through the glass.

I have run two emty cycles without adding any soap. During initial soak and initial wash cycle you don't see any soap. But during the last rinse and through the final extraction cycle, you see lot of suds. Where the heck is soap coming from??

Hope someone came across similar situation and has the answer.

Thanks,
Buddy

Are you sure there is not soap gunked up inside either the third compartment of the hose going down to the drain valve? I would almost bet you will find some there, otherwise what you say sounds almost impossible - but you knew that.

I don't see any soap in the third compartment of the soap box but my next step was to look into the hoses that connect to the soap boxes. This machine has been having this problem for over a month and it is perpetually out of service because of this problem. I neve got around to opening up the hoses. Ideally i would just like to replace them because when I touch them and try to sqeez them they are hard as a rock.

If they are hard as rock then I bet you have lots of soap caked up in them.

Might this have something to do with what compartment gets flushed at what point in the cycle? Like if for some reason, compartment 1 does not get flushed during rinse 1 and 2, but does flush in rinse 3?

The other thing is, could it be that the first 2 rinses are short (1 minute each) so there is not time for suds to build up, but rinse 3 is longer (2 minutes) suds have a chance to build up out of the clothes?

When you say you see suds, is it a total white-out or is it just like a 1/2 inch layer? Are suds not an issue when fabric softener is added in the 3rd compartment?

Fabric soften will kill suds.

We have tried running few cycles without any Soap or Softner but still I see complete whiteout during the last Wash Cycle.
