View Full Version : Plastic fan for Huebsch ....
There is part "100604 PLASTIC FAN" for American dryer and Summit said it would not fit Huebsch single stack dryer just because mounting hole is bigger than aluminum "M400086P MOTOR FAN".
Would you think is will work if I try mount on Huebsch motor with some spacer round to make it fit. Since it less weight it will be less work for motor to pull and bearing isn’t it? Any comment?

why?
I don't think will help your air flow, clean your fan, vent may help.
I used to put cheaper water valve or used valve in washers long time ago,I thought I save money but cost me more time .
I am not talking about air flow, i would said same amount of air flow for
plastic fan because same motor speed but save electric and longer life for motor and this is what I am shooting for.

This makes absolutely no sense.
Well with 20lb metal fan will require more power to turn vs 5lb plastic fan.
plus a 20lb weight that mount 10" horizontal from motor create more
strain on motor bearing. If you would tell me that metal fan is use for
a reason then I would stop thinking about doing this project.
I am about to buy 3 new motor and fan for my dryer to replace those that making that making noise, then I see there is plastic fan in advertise flyer that cause my attention.

Drop this Idea they are not designed to work with these motors.
Call the company if you feel so strongly then speak to there engineers.
To think this will say you a WHOLE lot of energy is ludicrous.
As I always say this is just my opinion … I rather see solar power wind power but to change form a part make to something is nuts-LOL
If you do it and it works and there is not a melt down, please keep us up to date
Thank you

I always re use the fans when I replace motors, so you can save some money there..

I was told that reuse fan will cause unbalance and motor will die sooner.
I will try on one machine to see what happen. The only thing that I hesitate it will take more work to mount American fan on Huebsch motor. If Speed Queen make plastic fan then I would use it instead of metal.

I bought a part number 100604 (PLASTIC FAN for American dryer) and try to fit it in SQ dryer is does not work. I wasted $40 on the FAN and 3 hours of work and learn a lesson.
Here is what I did:
hole is ½ for AD FAN so I use 9/16 drill to make hole bigger and redo trench for key, a height of AD a bit higher and it fit in well inside fan case but there are three screw that attach lint screen holder stick out into FAN case and that cause a jam when fan blade hit screw. I hand cut a fan down but when to turn on motor is vibrating too much so I trashed it.
I weight both fan with fish scale and Aluminum SQ is #5 and Plastic AQ is #2.5.

Did the guy that sells fans tell you that? The a/c guys around here always sell a new fan when replacing a condensor motor becuase it is cheaper than taking the time to seperate them. I have always used the fans over, so far no motor problems. The first was about 8 years ago.

Yes, He did tell me it will not fit for SQ but I want to do my experiment and learn.LOL
