View Full Version : sc27 drain valve - which one?

So I bought a 'seal kit' for an SC27 drain motor. I took the thing apart this morning and it is obviously not the right thing.
The drain valve is supposedly part F380618, but this looks nothing like mine. The impeller housing on mine seems much smaller and isn't squarish.
Any ideas what the correct part would be, or is mine just an old archaic one?
Thanks for any info,
John

Ok extensive web searching has found the part to be F270119P, called a 'drain pump'. Of course it has to be about a hundred bucks :(
Why the heck isn't this shown in the parts manual, while a different drain valve is shown?
Always fun times,
John

Parts king sells it for $104. Does your machine pump the water up into the sewer?
MSKLAUNDRY.

Your machine has a drain pump not a drain valve and had you initially stated that fact you would not have been told to purchase a drain valve seal kit. But what is done is done.
Now, those washers can be converted to gravity drain if you have the facilities to accept the drain water.
Word of advise: Convert it if you can. Those pumps don't pump suds and you will have loads of headache's uising them.
I show list price on those pumps at $174.17

Marc,
Well I certainly wasn't blaming anyone for telling me to buy a seal kit, since the person that determined it was required was basically me! I was just puzzled that the parts manual didn't make any mention of the drain pump being an option or anything. Hey, I'm learning.
My 'main drain' pipe runs maybe 6" or so off the floor; the washer is on maybe a 6" base or so... what's involved in setting up the gravity drain? Does the gravity drain valve basically just open with no pump involved? That sounds much less troublesome but I'm not sure of the geometry required. Guess it's time to order an installation manual.
And I can return the kit to costlessparts, so no problems there.
