View Full Version : returning stainless to new

I'd like to get my stainless machines looking like new - cleaning the tops and fronts of the SC27's and my super-II's. One of my SC27's has semi-nasty staining at the bottom.
Is there a good way to revive the stainless to a like-new look? I'm thinking maybe a touch with the random orbit sander and ??? grit paper would either make it look great or terrible, and I don't know which!

John:
Appliance dealers offer products for cleaning stainless. They don't require abrasive techniques or power sanders. They look more like a liquid polish that is applied, spread over the surface, and wiped off with a cloth rag.

We always recomend WD40 for clean, unstained stainless. It shines and protects. For stained or scratched stainless though.....
We use the following: 7" angle sander with velcro backing pad. First 320 grit aluminum oxide, then 600 grit or green or white fiber pad or disc.
ALOT OF PATIENCE !!! ALOT OF DISCS !!! This works, but takes some time. Finish with a wipe down of WD40

Thanks for the tips, I'll give the WD-40 a try before going gonzo with something powered :)
Another tip the prior owner shared with me was using a rag with baby oil on it. Works great for daily clean-up, taking the days use marks away really quickly.
