Heythere, while trying to solve the bottleneck problems at my dryers (I have 15 30lb Cissel slimlines), I've been considering adding one 50lb dryer for my in-house and large family drys.
Looks liek this VA job will be coming in, so I need to dry probabally 400lbs wet in a decent time period without consuming all of my regular use dryers.

I'm considering replacing 5 single pockets with 3 double stacks
and a 50lb single. (would give me 1 additional 30lb and a 50lb in the same space.....

Questions are, how much time are you folks giving for .25 and
what are any other comments? Just better to use another stack and call it 60lbs?

I've realised that noone makes double stack dyers in 26" width
so anywhat I look at it I will have less cabinets.

I would go with the extra stack.

First, it provides an extra drum (as well as the extra 10lbs)

But I think more important, is the keeping all the dryers the same (parts).

While you expect to use it for your drop-offs, your customers will not be happy if there is only one dryer of that size, I can hear the fights already ! :-)

I have 15 stacks and 2 50 lb dryers. The big dryers don't get the use I expected. I have 3 50 lb washers and 1 70 lb washers. I am also the only one in my market with a 70 lb washer, and I wanted a big dryer to go with it.

If you have 50 lb machines or larger, by all means use the big dryer. I'd match your biggest machine. If not, stick with the stacks.

If you really want to spend some money Cissel does make a coin-op 75# stack dryer.

I agree with Mike, load up on stacks. If you are getting a contract to do large items regulary then the 50# makes sense. Other than that they cost more to run and it is difficult to get the same amount of money you make off the 30#'s.

I have dryers at 6 min, 7 1/2 and 8 min depending on the store. Maybe the 8 is now 7 1/2, I don't remember.

I have 30 stack drums @ 8 min. per 25 cents

And 9 - 75# drums @ 5 min. per 25 cents

In my market, people love to dump 6 loads into one giant dryer. Also, I have 4 - 55# washers, and 9 - 40# washers, so the big dryers make sense for me, as I have so many large washers.

This was one of the harder decisions for me to make when it was time to change out my last 9 - 50# ancient Cissels. Stacks or big dryers? I decided to go with the Wasco 75# because of the HUGE door. They are impressive looking and I'm the only one who has them. Allowed me to start charging 5 min/$.25 with no complaints.

I've always been short on dryers per washers, (39 pockets/48 washers). But now I have no waiting in line, unless people are waiting specifically for one of the big 75#ers.

Since this was 9 units replacing 9 units, the install was easy without the need to cut more holes in the roof, or fiddle with the gas piping.

Maybe I'm just lazy....

I have all stacks except for one 50# dryer -people seem to like it, especially since I have several 50# and 75# washers. It is really nice for those big comforters and other large items. I charge 28 cents for 8 minutes on the stacks and 44 cents for 8 minutes on the 50# dryer.
