The globar gets red hot and the gas valve turns the flow of gas on but after approx 15 - 20 seconds the gas shuts off without igniting.

While I had it apart I cleaned everything, replaced globar, replaced sensor, replaced high limit by burner and sail switch while I was in there but still will not ignite.

This problem occured on two lower units of the stacks right next to each other on the same day and time.

I cannot figure out the problem. any ideas?

Thanks, Kevin

How do yo know the gas is on or flowing. Are you assuming it is? Most likely one of two things are happening.

1- The gas valve coils are bad and need to be changed or....

2- The glow bar is positioned to far from the burner opening so its not igniting.

Got it fixed last night but it was to late to post (tired).

The gas valve coils were working fine because I could light the burner with a barbecue lighter and watch the flame cycle between high and low till the temp was reached.

I never gave the globar position a thought till then because both dryers were working fine for years till then and both acted up at the same time and with the same customer.

So now knowing I had a ignition problem and not a gas valve problem I looked at all the other dryers and the globars were much closer than these two so I bent the globar brackets closer to the flame and they both fired right up.
