Maytag Top Loader not spinning

One of my Maytag Top Loaders is agitating with difficulty and not spinnig at all. I changed both belts, as they were very old and worn, but the same thing still goes on.
When there are clothes inside the washer, you can see that it is very difficult to agitate, and when the cycle comes to spinning, the drum doesn't move at all, although you can see the belt is moving very slowly, like spinning on the pulley.
The motor's pulley gets very hot, during the cycle, which I tried only two times, without clothes. The water pump works OK, as it takes out all water.
Can anybody give me a tip if it can be the motor, the transmission, or something else?

The motors pulley get very hot? Sounds like you might not have enough tension on the drive belt. Have you checked to see that everything turns freely with the machine empty and the drive belt off?

After going through many chcks, I found a sock stuck between the outer and inner tub. Once I was able to "fish it out", the washer works OK.
