I have a Huebsch UC-35 that I just replaced both rear bearings on because I was getting a bad vibration and the drum could be moved up and down. I've done this repair on 5-7 other machines with complete sucess. This time I still have a vibration and up and down movement.

One of the other machines I've done had to have a new drum installed because the shaft was obviously worn.

I was wondering if anyone has used a sleeve rather then replace the drum. Atlantic Washing Machine Parts Corp. sells a sleeve P/N 0320357-00U. May question is how would the sleeve fit between the shaft and the bearing, it's a pretty tight fit. Normally on something like this you would have to but the shaft on a lathe to reduce the shaft diameter and then slide on the sleeve. I don't know how you could but the drum and shaft on a lathe.

Any help would be much appreciated!

take dry ice on shaft and heat on sleeve

You will have to replace the basket or resurface the bearing area of the basket back to spec. It is possible that the shaft is ok and you just have a bad bearing housing. Either way you'll have to take it apart to see.

CCianci the sleeve you are talking about is where the seals ride not the bearings.

Thanks you are right! After looking at the drawing in the parts book, I see you are right.

Do you check Beesmart's kit? They sell a lot "shaft saver kit".
Some of their kits or tools worked great for me,some didn't.
I have not tried their SQ kit.

I've never heard of Beesmart. How do I get a hold of them? I searched the internet and found a computer supply company.

Minor correction to that web link:

Tell them you saw their link on Coinwash.com

(was missing the 'r' in beesmart).

Yes I'm sure everyone figured it out but thought I'd post it anyway. Am very bored here at work :)

The sleeve kits are not that great. Your best bet is to have the drum shaft machined to the proper fit. It is more expensive than a sleeve kit, but much more reliable. Also, keep in mind that with the sleeve kit, you have to use a smaller bearing. The sleeve is welded or epoxied to the worn shaft, and MUST BE CONCENTRIC !!! The sleeve you were referring to is , as someone else mentioned, for the seals. This component should be changed with every bearing job.
