View Full Version : ADC236 driving me nuts - help

I've got the lower pocket on an ADC-236 that is not getting hot - intermittently of course, and driving me crazy. The green light is glowing on the control unit. I checked it yesterday and the spark looked a little weak. So I took the entire burner out and cleaned off the ignitor and the sensor probe with some sand paper and put everything back together. She fired up perfectly and my attendant dried several loads in it. This morning I go in and there is an out of order sign on it and the other attendant tells me it is not getting hot. I fire it up and no heat. Help - what else should I be looking for?

I would try two things: replace the flame sensor and move the cover on the burner window up about 1/2 way. ( open the window)

Interesting idea, what are we trying to accomplish by opening the cover half way?

Updraft burners are more subject to negative back presure. Opening the "window" sometimes gives a better burn around the burner and encompasses the sensor.
Most of the time when I have intermittent heat problems with my ADC stacks I give them a good cleaning with the shop vac, then take out the sensor and clean the sight window with windex. Over time they can build up quite a film on the window.

What is a sight window? I've taken the ignitor and sensor out and cleaned and no luck. Have ordered new ones and will install when they arrive.

I think he is referring ti the IR sensor...you do not have this system.
