From the 1st day i opened (less than year), kept all my Alliance dryers at one temp. (175 for Hi)
Everybody comments how good, nice, etc. etc.
Couple months ago, have dealer tech in to do warranty work, leaves, everything fine.
A couple customers start telling me that some dryers are hotter than others... i smile, say sure, isn't that nice....blah blah.
A good customer tells me same thing, so for laughs, i finally get around to checking each board. TURNS OUT 5 TUMBLERS are at 190 !
Guess who worked on same 5 tumblers months ago ?
Here's the maddening part:
Everything's correct (i.e. 175) as of 1 week, now i'm starting to get complaints * from good customers* that my Dryers aren't drying like they used to, can i raise tempurature etc.- !!
That's a tuff choice, you have given them a taste of a good thing.....Tell you what I do. My dryers are at max, I get happy customers, I don't get a single peep on the heat, and I get customers that tell other customers including the once that are already there on how hot the dryers are. I realize it's not the norm in the mat business, considering how expensive utility is. But regardless of that, I rather make less money/month than to lose a customer to a competitor(which happens to be three buildings down from me).
In your situation now, I would keep the dryers temp at 190 but change the time. If you were already at 8 then change it to 6 minutes. So, now you can safely differentiate one set of dryers from others, also market it so that people know "get in/out faster with these dryers...".
It also depends on your service and competition as well.

Or maybe just tell them the dryers where malfuctioning and they were going over temp and that could be dangorous. So now that they are set right they should not damage their cloths.

go unattened so you don't have to talk to anyone
edited for the sentance above, I did not know you are already unattended. no smart answer. wait, wear sony walkman earphones when in the mat.
lower the time, raise the temp at the same time.
say it was to hot before and melted peoples stuff.
set all the dryers at somewhere between the before and after and live with it. Then raise the price in a few months.
you have lots of options. Just watch next time a teck works on your stuff

Whoa baby, I resent that remark. I was a tech for 25 yrs, Alliance ships their boards set at 130/160/190. If a customer does not request temps other than that when replacing a board there is no reason to change them.

Outlaw: Pete's right, i *DO* have to review what the tech's done:
Even though he should have placed them back to what I set them on principle,
(he 'test-swapped' several among my dryers - even said he'd reset them when done, but then had to come back a 2nd day & must have forgot),
it's not his business, and he can't really care what my Gas bill is.
If this was a private self-employed tech, i'd expect more, but i dont expect a whole lot from dealers.

resentment acknowledged.
If you replace a board in a dryer and DO NOT check the dryer next to it to see what the owner has it set to then you did sloppy work.
Even my installer always checks or asks what I have the other dryers set at when he sets them up. It is the little things that count in this business, and details are what matters.

Work your way gradually back to 175. Start at 185, then 180. The boards come from the factory set at 190 and $1.00 to start them.

Why is this such a big problem? Change them back to 175 and be done with it.

Be sure to do it during a hot spell. Changing temps down and increasing cooldown time when the weather is cooler is asking for customer complaints.
