....and I think I scared the crap out of her. I was in my parking lot and was looking for a cop, and one just happened to drive in the lot. I cut her off at a 45 degree angle and then pull up along side and put my window down. I tell her I have something I want to give to you. She looks puzzled but says OK.
I tell her that my attendant found something in a dryer last night and I did not know what to do with it. I did not want to just put it in the trash, so I figured the best bet was to give it to the police. I then handed her a live 22 cal. round.
This sucker had been in the dryer at 180 degrees. What were the chances of this thing firing from the heat. I have heard of bullets in dryers, but this is the first one ever found in my store.

This is nothing new in NC, I used to find 22's 45's ect all the time in the dryers and in pockets when doing wash dry fold.
It's the ak47's and what not that would worry me
It's the nails and screws that piss me off
markers pens crayons...
The police would have just laugh if I tried to turn in the 22's bullets. I got a collection of them.

I guess down here in the south, we see a mite bit more of this sort of thing. Never had one go off though.

Before it got into your dryer, it probably spent some time in your washer, no? Perhaps that got the powder wet, and may have saved your dryer from getting a bullet-hole.

We have found 22 cal. bullets in our dryers also, my Mat is in PA, where it is very easy to get a carry permit. I guess it takes alot for one to go off.
We find live rounds quite often, most of them come from the security uniforms we wash. We've never had a problem with any firing.

We get all sorts of shells, from 22-cal. to 9mm. Read a news article a few years ago on the net about a dryer door being shot from the inside out. Never happened to us.
My totally most favorite are shot-gun shells. Really impresses the customers when I tape one to a sign reading:
"PLEASE REMEMBER TO CHECK YOUR POCKETS".
Everybody is really dilligent for about 3 weeks after that.
