I pay close to a penny a gallon for combined water/sewer, up from .008 just a couple years ago. The water portion is set to double over the next 3 years.

I will gladly trade your tiny bills for mine. I would kill to pay the same for sewer as for water. I pay 4X for sewers. You are Damn Lucky!

And I would glady trade for your gross rev.
For those not in the know, kirby pays big bucks for rent, water/sewer..well above any averages, yet has the density and location to warrant a mat. This goes to show all mats are different, local markets are what decsions should be based on. We can give general info, but without knowledge of a market, who is to say this or that is a good or bad deal. As always, the more info given the better the response.

Our sewer rates about 10 yrs ago were about 25% of the water. They just jacked the sewer rates up 30% which will now make it nearly 200% of the water supply. What if anything can be done to improve this situation? Raise wash prices again? Come on ya all lets go to $2.00 for a small wash load and get it over with. Admittidely this is a psych barrier but once over with what does $2.25 look like in comparison from $1.75 going to $2.00. The sooner the better for everyone in this biz.
What is the CLA doing to help? It seems the local govts are squeezing us with their monopoly on the water/sewer systems. CLA do I hear you? Where did my dues go? Toward the expensive obsolete print stuff you mail around? Stand up and do something for the operators in the industry!

Sewer charges in my small town are horrific, but what can you do ?? They are a monopoly. If you want water & sewer - bend over.
Does anyone have any experience with inaccurate water meters? Do we just have to accept that they are reading the correct amount of gallons.
I have a friend that had a couple of situations where gas stations he used were pumping 'short' gallons therefore increasing the retail price per gallon.

Located in Northern NJ. Sewer rates vary from nothing to over 4X water within a five mile radius. Not much you can do about it, but you have to remember that its what you net not what you gross in this or any business.

I feel Kirby's pain: I'm at 4 x Sewer over Water costs - a little over 1cent combined per gallon.
However, i can take comfort that i'm in the same boat as hundreds of other Lmats that are on the same system.
Supposedly, i can also take psychic comfort that our water (Yosemite supplied) achieves the best tasting awards annually...
I'm just not sure how it tastes with Tide ;)
I would really be worried however, if i was on a small village system, and my competitors on nearby systems were drastically lower.
