From my time reading this board, I believe I read that the avg net profit for a mat is $30k a year

so many factors go into that question i cant help you each mat is diff. depends on the operators mostly

That is like saying the average person in the United States is 46 years old. It might be mathematically true (or not) but it has no meaning for anything. Some mats loose money, others may make in the high six figures. Who cares about averages.

reminds me of a seminar I once attended where the person conducting the seminar was talking about just how useless an average is as a statistic....ok, hope I don't offend anyone....to make the point, he reminded us that the average person in this world has one breast and one 'nut'.....and that my friends, is useful how?

Exactly the point I was trying to make. It may be mathematically accurate, but totally worthless.

what is the real question? The average may or may not be 30k but as pointed out, that info is useless. I belive local markets are very different, and as such, profit levels.

All that was said was correct, I would also add that one year a given mat might net 30k and the next year it might be 0 or it could be 60k or it could be 10 bucks. This is not a question that can be answered.

Maybe the question is what is a realistic or targeted net return on investment for the industry. It obviously varies by market and owner, but there are industry averages.

Probably not the 40% some distributors might show, but damned if I know what they are!
