Curious if anyone has purchased any new tops lately and what you may have paid?

I'm a bit suprised by the quotes I'm seeing for micro control units.

Thanks -

I bought some Maytags about a year ago, cost about $830 with tax and delivery

i bought 10 GE commercial washers last december over all others, including Maytag. i realize GE has a pretty bad repuation, but i looked into the purchase pretty carefully.

my udnerstanding about their commerical washers is that when they were initially introduced, they were essentially residential machines and were pretty crappy. Since then, they have been compeltely redesigned for commerical purposes. I checked with someone who owns dozens across three very busy laundromats, and he so much stated this. The ones he bought initially were very problematic, the more recent models after the redesign have been essentially trouble free for the last three years - and they do several loads a day.

The ones I purchased have an LED display for 'time left' and stainless steel tubs and cost $650.

my thoughts on maytag - they are overpriced and have an overhyped reputation that is based on quality that existed years ago, but no longer. good products, but not exceptionally better (if at all) than other products, and thus not worth the high price.

Over the past 13 years I'm on me third set of Maytags. The first were great, they lasted about 6 years with very few problems.I had the second set for 6 years and replaced every transmission at least twice, had a lot of tub seals go bad and the trans shaft became loose and pulled out, they sucked. I bought 25 Maytags last feb. and not one problem at 10 plus turnes per day, Knock on wood.I still think Maytags are the best!

I know a Mat that has 16 Maytag Tops that are almost 22 years old and still running. Not one has had a transmission replaced.

22 years ago, Maytag could truly stand by their motto of being "The Dependability People".
