I am not familiar with Dexter Dryers but I think fundamentally all Dryers work on the same principle.

Try swapping Ignitor Board from the other dryer to see if that is the problem. The Other things to check would be Thermistor if it has one or cleaning the Gas Valve.

In your situation, the easiest way to resolve the problem is to dig out your operating manual, look under troubleshooting, and follow the directions in the order presented (swapping parts with a known good machine).

The maytag double stacks we have. We have found that if the attendants do not clean the lint trap each and every day, the second day the dryer will NOT heat. Not that this may be your problem I find it hugely annoying that the traps is so small that after one days use the dryer will not heat if the lint trap is not cleaned.

Dexter stacks have way-big lint trays... lint build-up is not usually a major factor unless cleaning has been skipped for 3 or 4 days...

Sail switch malfunction would prevent gas from coming on...

Ignitor cable malfunction would prevent spark.

Many suspects.....

I usually check the sail switch first -- also make sure the flapper that swings and makes contact with the sail switch is moving freely and not blocked open.

As a Dexter owner for years, the following should be tried:

replace the grey box iginitor.
replace the wire and ignitor

The air flapper can be seen after pulling the back panel off. It is behind the big pully. It has never caused me trouble but has others.

If you are not sure were the box is let me know, I will walk you thru it.

I have a dexter stack dryer that has a problem when both are in operation. the bottom dryer will not heat up or heat up properly when the top one is in operation. When it runs by itself,it is fine . When the top dryer is operating, the bottom one might or might not fire up. Any suggestions?

I think you have an air flow problem. Maybe lint buildup in the exhaust vent, maybe in behind the sail switch or burner box. When the upper dryer is running it is creating an air flow up the vent pipe sucking the bottom dryer air up as well.

Follow. First thing to check is ignition. Have someone start the machine while you are behing. Do you hear the gas valve close, do you get spark? If you get spark, but no igniton then must be a gas problem. If you get gas but no spark, must be ignition. If you get neither, check the sail switch. Then it gets fun with computer boards and igniton modules. Good luck. Please always let us know you fix for an item for the next time for all of us.

I had one and it turned out to be the temp probe. Let us know what you find.
