View Full Version : Coffee or water ?

Now, this is a difficult choice for me. In my new store soon to be open, there is a good size space available next to a soda machine and a snack machine. I want to put in another vending machine in that space. Since I already got soda and snack, what else to put in ? The two choices that come to my mind are coffee vending machine or water vending machine. Both machines cost about the same, and have about the same size. (Of course, I will need to sell containers to go with water vending machine). Now which one will give me the max. return ? Which one has more profit potential ? Or any of these doesn't worth my money ?
Both coffee machines and water machines have been around for some time. But I don't see too many of these machines in the laundromat setting vs. soda or snack machine. Does this mean coffee or water machine won't do well in a laundromat ? If you know the pros and cons with these machines, please share your thoughts. Thanks.

I dont know the cost but i think one of those photo centers that allows you too blow up copy's like they have in target. Ill bet that would do great. How about fax and copier service. not a big fan of self- sevice coffee mostly because of liabilty, with the young kids getting burnt. Or start a book swap center for you customers to read books while killing time, that works great in my store, i have more books then i started with from all the donations.

If you want to make the most profitable use of the small space, you have to learn from your clientelle. What is it they want? Ask them, they will tell you. You may find they choose a video game over a coffee machine or possibly a snack machine over a soda machine?
We found great profits in drinks, candies, games and weight scales depending on the area. I investigated the markets and determined the greatest possibilities. We never purchased, but leased a 50/50 agreement to determine the greatest benefits, as by having an agreement with vend businesses you have the right to swap out and seek out the best revenue producing machines according to your requirements.

How about one of those new frozen snack machines. That should do well in this setting.
There are many choices to fill it with and you can keep changing things up.

get the megatouch upright arcade, women like the them, or ms pacman/galaga combo
One idea is to do what I have done and add water to your soda machine ....this way your offering it without taking up any more space...
I agree with Khach, I put a mini megatouch in about 5 months age and its already paid for itself. It has about 12 games and customers spend there extra time and money playing the machine. Do not put in a coffee machine. It is too much work and the return is horrible. I spent 6 years in vending and I had a few accounts that had coffee machines. We did about $10.00 a week and the coffee tasted horrible. Go with the arcade.

I'm with Kitty on this. First ask the customers then decide. Whatever the decision then go out and find someone who will put their machine in your location. Once you recognize the income, then offer the vendor to buy their machine or buy your own. It's a sure way of deciding what will work!

Maybe your local code enforcement may help. I know of a guy who wanted to put in a coffee machine and the city insisted he install a grease trap in the drain. No coffee for him.
I would also agree that the megatouch game would be your best bet. I paid for mine in less than a year and you don't have to fill it with coffee or cream.

Speaking of which I just found out that a competitor had two of those kiosky things in his mat and arcade...Keeping in mind that his mat is near the university, it was used only once in 3 months...the company that he got it from is in Dallas and they pulled it out of his mat and out of his arcade because it wasn't making money....
It seems to me if you have internet service you don't want to pay twice for it and if you don't have it you probably don't have an email account that you need to check on...
just my two cents...
