View Full Version : Drilling a lock out
I spent almost 90 min trying to drill a Neptune Lock out. I broke 3 bits and still no go. I have drilled them out before with no problem. Any suggestions?

Are you referring to the bull nose coinbox or the vault service panel?
The bull nose coin box. This is the second time I had to drill one out. The first time it took me about 10 min. This time, not so lucky. Any suggestions?? Laundrypro, I am not sure if I can get a dremel through the slot that spins 360 degrees.
Thanks,

I have had ones that have taken 2 minutes to get out and ones that took an hour. Why I don't know.
I have also taken a very long rod in from the coin vault opening and through the back of the vault hammered the box right out the machine. Don't remember which machine it was that i did that to, could have been a toploader though with a slide.
Just get a good bit and go straight though the front and use your finger to move the locking plates which is the hardest part.
I drilled right through the back of the nut and still nothing. How do you get to the plates to slide them over? I have been using a small screwdriver to try and turn them through the bull head covering the lock.

I usually use my picky finger but my fingers are small.

Marc,
Do I take the coin mech out and reach in through that little hole that the coins drop through? Is that what you are saying? I don't see any other way.

No, you first have to get rid of the whole lock under the bull nose. then use your finger (if small enough) to move the cams with your finger. Have done many many ones like this. Its time consuming but it works.
Finally I was able to get the coin box out. Once I moved the front slot plate and the spring behind it. I was able to drill the lock completely out with a bigger bit.
Thanks Marc,

I thought you were past that already!!!
To get past that you could have taked a chisel at hammered it in the middle to crack it and then drill the lock.
As it worked out I was able to save the spring and the spin top where the key slips through.
Thanks,
BWJR
