Sounds like the motor contactor contacts are sticking closed. It should be located in the rear of the dryer. According to the parts manual the part # 132431 which is no longer available. The new cross ref # is 882386 which is 126 bucks list. Although I haven't seen one of these dryers in many years I would assume you could use a 132475 contactor which may require you to drill 2 holes to mount it. Price of contactor about 15 to 20 bucks.

Let us know what you find out.

Mark is definitely on track, as usual. The fact that a quarter fired up the heat indicates that the normal timing mechanism is working fine. The dryer is running because the motor control switch (the contacter) is frozen in a running position. This happens when the contacter points corrode and burn out over time. I had one a few weeks ago in an ADC285. I didn't even notice until a customer pointed it out to me. So many dryers were running that I thought this one was just another working dryer.

Replace the contacter and it will be fine. Marks suggestion is to dump the high dollar contacter and use a generic contacter instead. Its worth the extra effort to save the bucks.

Yes, it should be in the control box.
