High-Efficiency (HE) Washer Regulation

I recently heard that, beginning in 2007, the federal govenrment will be requiring that all new washers in the U.S. will have to be the "high efficiency" type. Does anybody know of a web site where I can get more info on this and keep up-to-date on it as that time gets closer?

This only applies to new machines. We will be able to continue using existing top loaders.

We better buy them in 2006, because I sense that Manf. and Distributors will have a huge increase prior to the regulation going through.

Not Likely. It is more likely that prices will drop on HEs, as volume will increase and competition in this arena will increase.
