Friends,

I did a search and came up with one thread from 2 years ago on cleaning toploader white enamel surfaces, but would like to get any updated ideas anyone may have.

Store I'm buying has top loaders in good condition, but showing "shadow' ring stains. Tried glass cleaner, warm soapy water, disinfectant, etc., but can't seem to get these old rings out. Short of repainting, does anyone have some cleaning tips that have worked for them?

By the way, the old thread mentioned using Turtle Car Wax to keep the enamel surfaces protected, but this only works once the stains are out.

Thanks in advance...

Walter

I've never had this problem, but maybe you could try paint thinner. That stuff is pretty wicked strong - I just used it to get some tar out of a dryer and it worked like a charm.

I think it's rather odd that you could stain the enamel surface anyhow...don't really know how that is possible if the enamel finish is proper.

I have had some stains and as far as I can tell they are from fabric softener
More like etching it than staining.

If your talking about the stains under the lids ( the top of a top loader is usually porcelain and everything below that is paint) Try Zap or a mild acid or diluted acid (muriatic).

Caution:

Do use eye protection and rubber gloves!

Don't get any of this stuff near or on stainless steel !
