Any ideas on what malfunction my Top is suffering from??

The machine is level. The basket is level. All of the springs are attached beneath the basket. Still, the basket shakes uncontrollably whenever it starts to extract. It even shakes a little with an empty load. I have even held the top of the basket as it spins in an attempt to level it off to see if it would stop shaking. No luck.
What am i overlooking? Could the springs beneath the basket be worn?

Because WP's are driect drive, they shake during spin even when empty. The outer tub is held by 3 springs and the tub rests on a friction plate. As long as the tub isn't hitting the outer cabinet when spinning, then everything is fine.

If the outer cabinet is reverberating, making the spin extra noisy, then it could be that the cabinet is loose from the base. I haven't messed too much with the commercial machines, but on the home machines, the entire cabinet rests on the base and is held together by these little metal tabs. If a tab is bent or the cabinet isn't setting on the tab correctly, you will get reverberation.

As PeterH said, they do shake normally but make sure the unit is pumping out properly or this could cause excessive shaking.
