If you are looking to save a few bucks and do some work yourself : Buy a rebuilt cylinder assembly and install it in your machine. or....
- remove the cylinder assy,
- remove the pulley retaining ring & Remove the pulley with a puller, use a stearing wheel type puller with legs, not arms.
- remove 4 bolts holding housing to gable.
- using puller with arms, pull housing off gable
-remove rear bearing from shaft or housing
-remove retaining ring and spacer from shaft on top of front bearing .
- using leg type puller, screw 2 legs into the holes in the gable where the bearing housing bolts were removed. using puller, remove the gable and front bearing.( as one unit)
-remove seals from gable
- with die grinder and cut off tool, cut off the seal face bushing from the shaft.
- with wire wheel, clean everything and clean everything and clean everything !!!!! Don't forget to rod out the weep hole in the seal cavity of the gable.
- using a hot plate, heat the new seal face bushing and install it onto the shaft, it should drop right into position, no banging. Be sure the shaft is smooth and has no burs where you cut off the old part.
- Coat the seal cavity and the outside of the seals with 3-M 800
sealant, and install the seals into the seal cavity of the gable. The 2 seals facing the water side are installed with the open lip towards the water. The one seal towards the housing side is installed with the open side towards the housing. Liberaly apply grease to the seals and the shaft and the bushing.
-Place the gable over the shaft. Be careful when sliding the seals over the bushing.
a- if open type bearings are being used, the bearings and
the housing must be packed with grease.
-Drive the new front bearing onto the shaft and gable until it bottoms out.
- Install the spacer and retaining ring.
- Install the housing, line up the words "UP" on the gable with the housing, alternately tighten the 4 bolts.
- Drive the rear bearing onto the shaft and into the housing.
-Drive the pulley with rubber ring installed, onto the shaft.
- iIstall retaining ring.
- Coat the rubber seal on the gable with silicone sealant and install into the outer shell making sure everything lines up before tightening the clamps.
