You have gas, you say you smell it. You have a glo.....is it as bright as it should be ? If above is ok. pull out the burner and blow clean with compressed air.

Assuming you have gas as you stated then make sure the glow bar is not too far from the burner and make sure the holes closest to the glow bar are clean and open. Bend or adjust it so it is closer to the burner without it touching it. Check voltage to glow bar to make sure its 120 volts.
If there isn't gas then replace gas valve coils.
There is also a very remote possibility that the IR sensor is switching too early before the glow bar is getting bright red thus causing the glow bar to not ignite the gas. Very remote but certainly possible.
Why not upgrade this dryer to spark ignition?
I don't have any ADC dryers but my friend has them,I spoke to ADC's tech about change 285 from Glo bar to Spark ignition,he suggested me not to do it .
One of my friend update 285 to Ram electric gnition, some works ok ,some computers didn't like the update for some reasons.

Can you explaind what you are talking about more clearly.
What timer and 30 seconds after you do what?

Glo bar ignition is not instantaneous. With a good sensor, it will take 30-45 seconds to cycle.
