When I open a mat I plan to offer dry cleaning services. It will not be in-house. I would like to learn more about the health issues inherent with working near these chemicals.

Are any cancer causing?
If I handle dry cleaned clothes do I put myself or staff at risk?
Anyone have a source to read?

Your thoughts, as usual, are much appreciated.

I wouldn't worry about it if you do not do it in house. Several reasons:
1. your volume will not be very large
2. the articles come back wrapped in plastic

There are a number of regulations regarding Perc but they relate to the dry cleaning operation and I imagine if you are looking for things to do you could do a search on the internet and review information listed.

None of these issues are relevant if you are simply operating a drop-off drycleaning service.

Cleaners are getting away from perc equipment, and it has only been proven that perc may increase the cancer rates for laboratory mice. :)
As far as you being a "dry" store, (you farm the work out) there is virtually no risk at all.
