With coffee costing 3.50-4.00 bucks for a cup in NY for regular non fancy coffee, don't you think you have room to increase your prices? 2900 pounds of laundry a week, you have a good following and I am sure you provide a great service, so you should get more for your superior and efficient service! :)

Kitty...

Actually we are in line with are competitors but I have thought of increasing it....The reason for the large amount..(at least I think it's large) is because I do WDF for a few small hotels...

I know I will not be increasing the cost because I am in the process of selling this mat...I have mentioned it to the guy that is buying it from me....I told him to raise it at least a dime...

We do about 1700lb a week of WDF for non-commerical accounts.
We charge 1.25/lb

We also do another 1800-1900lb a week of Commerical Linen (Towels, Sheets, Blankets, Spreads, Rags, Mopheads, Patient gowns) for two small hotels, some salons, tanning stores and medical offices. For this we charge depending on the item washed/per pound.

Towels: .90/lb
Sheets: 1.15/lb
Blankets: 2.75/lb
Bed Spreads: 12.00/each
Rags: .90/lb
Mopheads: .90/lb
Patient Gowns: 1.00/lb
MISC: 1.15/lb

I would like to raise my WDF prices. I was wondering how best to do it.
should I:
1) Just raise them one day and thats it; or
2) Post signs up two weeks before I raise the prices, telling the customer I am raising the prices?

Post a sign stating may 1st there will be a price increase, thats how i do it noone seems to care when you raise WDF prices just dont touch the dryers, you think you killed someone

I know about the dryers.. I would LOVE to raise my dryers' prices.. but I know I cannot.
once I lowered my dryer temps. (it was too hot to begin with, what should take 30 minutes to dry, took like 24 or even 16 minutes). I started getting a lot of complaints about the "dryers being broken".. and I had to raise the temps up again :(

tgifbos......

Who's the boss, you or your customers...?

Just raise them...why give them two weeks to bitch about it and give yourself two weeks of headaches...do it Monday morning and be done with it.

I just (yesterday) started up 3 new TD3030 dryers at one store that has 12 Huebsch twinstars.

The old (16 year) dryers are at 5 minutes, I set the new ones at 4 minutes.

I had a complaint, but I explained that the total drying cost for their load would be no more than it was previously.

I said the new dryers will dry faster (true), so don't penalise me because the drying is quicker.

As an aside, I asked the customer when the last time I raised the dryer price was.

He didn't know, I told him:

"We never raised our dry prices in 16 years, despite the fact that natural gas has tripled in price in that time !"

Tomorrow I'm going to raise the price at my other store to match !

TGbos- I agree with JIm raise them and be done with it. NEVER lower temp,. always decrease time. With gas at near $2 gallon, now is the time to lower dry time, put up a sign saying high gas forced this so you can blame it on someone else.

mike-- do your dryers have dual drops? I would think looneys' would be easier to drop for a 20 min or so. But then you would have top sort all them boxes....

No, just the single drops, or as I call them,

"the vacation preventers" :-)

Pete i have to disagree with you. Every summer i lower my high temp 5 degrees, it is the same as raising my prices 5%. During the summer months clothes are lighter, with shorts and tees rather then jeans and sweatshirt. I never have any customer complaints at all. I raise the temp right after the first frost in our area. I relize you are in florida so things are different. It gives me some money back for running the air conditioner all summer.
