Does anybody have the new 12 column soap machine? What do you like and dislike about it? I've taken a plunge for more than $40,000 in equipment this year and this might be my last purchase. My 8 column machines won't cut it anymore with all the new product out.

I don't have it but it looked sharp when I saw it. The individual motors bothered me although they have had a problem with them so far. We just added another soap machine (3 column) vended at a higher price (75) We put Oxy Clean, Tide, and Downy in it. The verdict is still out on sales...

I just bt an 8 column, I did not have enough wall space to put in the 12, it is a big machine, and I already have a bag vendor on another wall. I was talked into also becuase of simply operation, ie, a coin slide for each product, so it one jams the whole vender is not down as opposed to a cin drop style. You should consider the optional guard, the machine is fairly easy to break into, we had a soap bandit who hit a bunch without the guard on them. Once it has been pryed into the machine is pretty much wrecked.

What's a realistic price on it. I assume these are electric motors?

A realistic price is bet $1,400 and $1,500 delivered. Yes, they have electric motors.

I bought one 2 years ago for $1275. Unless they have upgraded the motors, they are underpowered. Mine often stalls trying to dispense heavy products like Chlorox II and Purex bleach. The unpainted metal coin chutes leading from the coin mech to the coin box rusted badly within the first month. Technical service from VendRite is awfull. Otherwise it's a beautifull machine.

I was quoted 1375 + 75 shipping. With the free soap that comes with it if you buy before Nov 30th. It should be $857 if you vend at 75 cents not counting any sales tax(on the machine or on the sale of the soap). You've got me worried with the electric motors.
What kind of warranty does it have?

Glenn,
Your post reminds me of the line, "Other than the shooting Mrs. Lincoln, how did you like the play?".
Would you recommend another soap vendor? I just ordered mine yesterday, so it's not too late.

How to spot and prevent problems with your soap vend machine.*
As founder of Vend-Rite Manufacturing, Dick Tennes was known to say, "A soap vender is a 'silent salesman' for your establishment." No customer wants to risk losing money in a dilapidated soap vender, so it's easy to understand that when it looks worn out or performs erratically, it reflects poorly on you and your business. However, when it looks and operates as it should, it is a reliable source of revenue. Here are some common signs of wear with helpful suggestions to keep your machine looking and working great.
[Soaps & Softeners]
1. PROBLEM:
Customers hit or yell at your machine.
PROBABLE CAUSE:
Quite a few surfaces come into contact with the box during the product delivery process, and if any one of these surfaces is crusted over, it can delay or destroy a client's chances of a successful vend.
2. PROBLEM:
The columns that hold the product have become stained by the color of the product's box.
PROBABLE CAUSE:
Because product boxes are constantly traveling through these columns, ink and wax build-up is a likely culprit. To prevent staining, clean columns regularly as described below.
3. PROBLEM:
Coin acceptor areas are difficult or impossible to operate.
PROBABLE CAUSE:
Coin Slides aren't as sensitive to clogging, but will react sluggishly when they need to be lubricated. Drop coin acceptors (not pictured) can become clogged with dust, soap powder and dirt from the money itself.
4. PROBLEM:
You see customers putting their hands into your machine to get a product.
PROBABLE CAUSE:
Soap powder that has leaked inside the machine can cause a drag on the product selection component of the vender, making it difficult for products to fall.
THE SOLUTION
Restore your "silent salesman" to its former performance and appearance using a hot damp cloth to remove the dirt, dust, wax and soap that has built up on all parts of it. Be sure to check the vender for loose or cracked parts. Apply an automobile wax to the cabinet, then buff the wax off and use the buffing rag to wipe down all the interior parts that come in contact with the vend boxes. Finally, lubricate your coin slides with a dry silicone spray to restore smooth operation.
Clean your machine every time you fill it with product for best results. A thorough cleaning once a month, however, will help prevent most problems. Most important: When your soap vender looks worn out or suspicious, replace it!

Mark,
Doing all those maintenance procedures you listed is the only thing that keeps my machine operating. I think any soap machine selling for #1300.+ should have motors capable of dispensing little boxes of soap under any conditions. If you get a case of soap that has detergent all over the individual boxes, you have to clean every box before loading them.

Glenn,
I agree wholeheartedly. However, what alternative is there other than to buy a full-size snack vendor and use for soap vending only?
Any other ideas?

Hey Mark,
If you use the candy machine to dispense soap be sure to post a sign cautioning users to not ingest the soap. After my two slip and falls last month I have become sensative.

Andy,

LOL
I have a 15 year old 7 column soap vendor with $1.00 max coin slides. It works like a champ and it looks like I won't be replacing it anytime soon. At $1500.00 or so, I think that would kill what little profitability this P&G crap has in it.
Incidentally, I have an extra soap vendor in my storage room that was the "sister" to the one I still use. I will sell it for $200.00 to anyone who will pick it up, This thing weighs 200 lbs I think, so shipping is out of the question...basically due to the fact that I will never lift it again for ANY reason. Got pictures...It's in perfect working order, some graffitti on the face is all.
