Does anyone know anything about Coinstar, I see these machines that take your coins and print out a receipt for you to get cash from the cashier.
Is this a franchise?
Does anyone know where I can get one of these machines?

The cost is ridiculous on those machines...

I was quoted about $9200.00. If I wanted to rent them at no cost you get 1% and they get 8%.

The charge is like 9% for customers... I don't see myself ever getting one because just to break even you would have to take in over $100k.
Also in the contract if there was any damage to the machine I would have to pay for it. Just another thing I would have to worry about.

In the SF Bay Area, it looks like a bunch of these machines were put in local supermarkets with much fanfare a couple of years ago and then pulled out. They also seemed to be out of order a lot of the time. Maby now replaced with a similar unit from another franchiser.

I think they charge more then 9% in my area, maybe 13%.
If the meachine charge any fee, your customers are going to ask attendant for exchange anyway.I don't think it will work in laumdromat.
I just set my Standard changer so it will exchange dimes, nickles to quarters as a free service, most system 500,500E,600 and EC will able to do it.
