So I get a call last night from the attendant that a customer is upset that a 50# washer did not extract well - what should I do? This attendant has only worked there for about 5 years, you would think she would know. Tell her to put the clothing in another machine and start it for the customer and give the usual apologies. Expect her to put an out of order on the machine.

I come in this morning and there is no out of order sign. I assume something is stuck in the drain and grab my flashlight and take a look down the drain - looks clear. I tell the other attendant, and she says don't tear it down I think I know what happened. She has a load of clothing to wash so she fires it up and it works fine. Now I'm puzzled. She explains to me that it is not uncommon at this time of year to have that problem. Ok, now I'm really puzzled and ask her why. She says that when people put their winter jackets and other clothing in this can sometimes happen, and she tells them not to put clothing in with jackets. Evidently, when the washers go into the high speed spin the jackets sometimes layout flat and the waterproof garment keeps the water from properly draining from the other garments that are pressed up against them. I never thought of this before but it makes a hell of a lot of sense.

Yes,
Only two weeks ago my attendant called and said there is water coming out the top soap dispenser on my 80#er and we are flooding. I get there, turn the power off, looks like there is NO water in the machine (has laundry in it) and there is still water overflowing out the soap dispenser.
Scratching my head, hmmm... power off, no water in drum, manual water valve off, and water still trickeling over top of soap dispenser.

She was washing a horse blanket. evidentely it lined and sealed the whole drum so no water could come in. Just filled up the hoses and out the top.

It's funny I got same complaints on two of my washers and I checked Drain and it looked fine. One of them it was intermittant.
It would work fine for a day and next day same problem. I noticed that when I run it empty, it would not extract on initial cycle but would spin during last two extract cycle. I opened the top and tightened the screw on both relays and it seemed to have solved the problem. Couple days later same problem.

The second washer I tried and it seemed to be fine so I took off the sign. I 'll know tomorrow what happened with it.

In the past I have solved similar problem by replacing the pressure swith tube and/or pressure switch.

Attendant had another theory: He said washer water level seem to be little lower than usuall on all 20 washers - may be pipes are partially frozen? But I don't buy that because that would simply make longer fill cycle.
