I have a cameras system with 9 cams for more than a year. I set it up myself and things work out fine.

I have 2 questions:

I have 1 cam aiming at the changer. If someone has problem, and I need to check back right away to see whether they put in $1 or $20 bills, I cannot see the recording right away. I have to wait 30 minutes or so to get the recording at that particular time. Is there anything I can do to speed up the records ( more RAM?)

Does anyone have voice recording on their cameras system. I tried to put a microphone out, but could not hear anything intelligible with so much garbage noises. Should I get a better microphone?

Thanks

I was told a microphone is illegal. Is it?

I don't understand why it would be illegal?

It falls under the laws that cover wiretaps and such. For some strange reason video recordings are not covered by the laws, probably because the laws are almost from the stoneage. But recording audio without permission is illegal in many areas.

I have never heard that recording sound is illegal. Is it then true that video taping someone using sign language is also illegal?

Who really cares if it is illegal or legal. Just do it if you want.

I belive recording video and audio in public places is completly legal. Court cases have shown that when you are in public you are to presume that you have no privacy. With the exception of private areas ie. Restrooms, changing rooms etc. The faces and voices of people may not be used for profit without their permission.
