Beware. I called my changer service guy. Found out it will cost me $900 to update my Hamiliton. Also, he said not to take any 20's because there have been reports of changers rejecting the bills and then giving $20 worth of quarters, too!
Since they've already been counterfeited I''m not going to upgrade just yet. They'll probably make a new one in a year or two.

Dump the Hamilton validator and upgrade to a Mars conversion kit.

wow,that is good changer!just joking.
When the bills were changed last time,I think it was 99,Coinco had a glish too.If the Coinco only had $20 ,not $5 or $10 updated, customers put a new $10 or $5,the changer would miss ID the bill as $20 then pay out $20.
If the new $5 $10 are out this time,I will turn off my $20 until update all the bills. You never know what change will do when it see the new bill,it get too happy sometimes.

So will the Mars validator work in an older model Hamilton? (purchased in 1990). Where did you buy it? Who put it in?Thanks.

Which valdator do you have? The following statement was issued by Hamilton in May.

Security Statement – Hamilton HVX Validator & New $20 Bills

In recent weeks, Hamilton Manufacturing has been working with the new $20 bills that are to be released into circulation this fall.

The HVX Validator will not be updated to accept the new $20 bill. However, while performing some of the standard security tests with cheating methods that we have encountered over the years’, it has become apparent that the HVX validator has a potential security weakness as it relates to the new $20 bill. For this technique to work there is very specific manipulation that must take place. We will not go into any further detail with this.

Many owners do not accept $20 bills and they will not be affected by this. For those owners that do accept $20 bills, Hamilton Manufacturing would offer the following options to prevent this:

Turn off the $20 bill acceptance
Purchase a new XE or STA bill acceptor
