Just found a new $20 in my Standard 600 changer. The funny thing is I haven't updated it! A friend called yesterday and said he found two in his Standard 600 and I told him he's nut's, hmmm
I took the same $20s and ran it in the machine and I couldn't get it to take it. So What's up with that?

What is your security setting for $20 bills? We're seeing quite a few already.

My System 600 took a new $20 too, none of system 500 will take new $20.I bought the changer end of 1999 or 2000.
All my $20 set the security level at 5 or 6.

Ken , that 500 system is the best acceptor that Standard put out so hold onto it. Charles, I'm check today what security level my 600 is set to. Like Ken my updated 500 won't take them.
After 2 repair job,my system 600 work ok now.I always keep my mechines until too expensive to repair or the factory run out of parts.I still have some Wasco Gen 3,they were made in 1972.
Most changers are like computer, after 10-20 years the factory's supplyer may no longer carry or make the parts.I will keep my system 500 until Standard no longer sppor them.

I keep all of my security settings on the 600s at 5, and did not have any of the new 20s accepted, prior to the update. With the update, they are being accepted without any problems.
However, my Cummins currency counter/discriminator does read most of the new 20s as 20s, and I haven't done the update yet. It fails to recognize about 10% of the new ones. I think that these are similar enough that they are recognized correctly most of the time.
In other words, if they are accepting them correctly, I really don't care.

Charlie - do you have your acceptor set for four-way acceptance?

I'm not sure what you mean by 4 way acceptance. The new software does not distinguish between the old 20s, the new 20s, and the new new 20s. I accept 1s, 5s, 10s, 20s, new 5s, new 10,s and new 20s, all at security setting of 5.

Of course, I hadn't thought about it, but I can't recall the last time I saw one of the old 20s. Maybe the last iteration is now the old 20. I was under the impression that the software could only handle 8 bills.

I think it all depends on what verifier you have. Mine (Mars) does distinguish between the old the new and the new-new bills. I received 2 of the old small president bills yesterday and three the day before. About 1/2 of the bills I am getting are the new multicolored ones.
Four way acceptance means that you can insert the bill forward, backwards, face up or face down. My theory is that if you have four way acceptance turned on and a person inserts the bill face down it may be accepted by an old verifier as it is reading the back of the bill which is almost identical to the older bills. If you don't have that going on then there is no way a non updated machine should accept the new bills. If a non updated machine accepts the new bills it will likely accept photocopies of money as well.
How do you turn "four way acceptance " on for a standard changer? I didn't know they would do that.
Standard system 200,500,500E,600 only work one way.
Rowe BC system only take one way.
Coinco take 2 ways.
Mars take 4 ways.
It is nice for customers the bill accepter take 4 ways but it is pain for me.
American changers will take money both ways. It is factory set.

Code 510 on the 500 series.
Not sure if the 600 is the same or not.
you need to push F1 to progam anything for Sys 600.
