This is a bit of a long story, but the background is important. I think it is amazing what people expect you to believe.....

Last week, a lady left a trouble ticket saying that one of the W-124s didn't get all of her clothes wet, and they came out of the wash "still stained". She went on to say that she felt I should refund her for the wash, the dry, the soap, and the softener. She also thought I should refund her for the two candy bars she and her son ate because they were stale.

Well, I wasn't sure what to make of this. This machine runs 20 times a week, and I've never had a complaint! I watch my video tape, and it looks to me as though she put about 100 lbs of clothes in the machine. Can't tell if some of them were dry after afterwards. I ran a huge load of towels through it, and everything seemed to work fine. I figured I'd call her and see if I could work out some sort of resolution. I can't afford to lose customers these days with the dum-dum up the street undercutting everyone's prices (25 cents for 25 minutes, and 75 cent toploaders).

I call four differant times and never get hold of her. Twice I talk to her mom and ask her to relay a message that I want to work this out and make right with her, so please ask her to call me.

Wednesday, she left a message during the day, but I got home late so I didn't call her. In the message she claims that the machine ruined two of her son's "best shirts". She never once mentioned anything about this in her disertaion on the trouble ticket.

I get home last night and find another message from her. She said that obviously I wasn't committed to working this out and that she didn't have money to throw around on new shirts for my machines to ruin. She claims that she has "talked to an attorney" and that I had better give her a call.

I go through the roof! How stupid does she think I am? An attorney!!

So I call her back. She's not home, but I get her mom again. Her mom wants to take a message. I decide to call this lady's bluff: I tell her mom to ask her to have her attorney call me. I'll work the problem out with him. No need for her to call me now that she has an attorney involved.

We'll see if she calls back...... the thing is, I was willing to pump $10 back in her direction, just to keep the customer. Now she's ruined that for herself. I could care less if she ever comes back. But the funny thing is, that she probably will. From what I understand (from talking to her mom the first time), the only time she can do her laundry is late at night, because of her and her husband's job schedules. I'm the only laundry open that time of night.....

I want to be fair, but it pisses me off that people think you are so stupid. I really would like to talk to her attorney (if she actually has one). I want to see what kind of idiot takes a case involving two shirts - especially a case he can't win!

It's funny. My customers have been without any kind of refund system in place for so long (the previous owner didn't have OOO cards available.) , they hardly think of getting a refund. They go to great lengths to mark a machine OOO, but never fill out the card.

No wonder aliens are avoiding this planet! :-D

I spent a geat deal of the day behind an old SQ stack dryer. The thing acted like a bearing in the fan was bad. I tore the thing apart and put it back togerther. No problems, I susspect a chunk of rock/dirt/dryer gods. Anyway, the thing is working, and after tearing it all down, I put in the sweep thing I bt a year ago...
That cost me another hour. Or two. I end up leaving it sort of wedged between the computer housings.

I was laughing at your troubles, sorry, I needed one.
Mostly becuase I hate them SQ stacks.
Guess misory deserves company.

If you have an address for the troubled consumer, then I would mail them a crisp $5 bill, along with thier OOO slip, so they know the benefactor..

She probably stuffed the washer so full barley a gallon of water could get in. Lawyer? sure. But a 5 spot makes some people some peoples' day. Money well, spent or not. worth the risk.
I have had worse.
