This is a heads up.. warning. I have had 3 different 18# machines at 2 location, no machine more than 2 years old, have the roll pin in the door handle lock cause trouble. It is the pin that holds the round piece with the nub on it, the thing that catches the roll pin on the machine itself. They have split, so when a customer tries to open the door they can't. I have had to take the panel off and door flange to open one of them. I am suggesting keeping an eye on those roll pins for being loose or cracked, split, and keep a few spares in the tool box. 3/16 by 1 1/4 in, though i can only buy 3/16 by 1 1/2 in at my local hardware store, causing another problem. I only have 6 18#'s so when 1/2 have trouble I wonder if anyone should know about it. I have not had any trouble with any other models, I have about 16 others bigger sizes.

I don't think dexter makes the roll pins, not sure it is thier fault, so to speak. And not worth a call to get warranty parts.

I can see a potential problem coming for me along the same vein -- I've noticed some of my door handles hitting the door flanges...probably cause the pins to shear over time. Another thing to mess with I suppose - thanks for the heads up.

I grinded the door flange just a tad bit - that fixed my problem of them banging into each other.
