View Full Version : Neptune Door
Neptune 21 - The door looks fine, not bent, but it won't shut all the way and consequently the door will not lock. When you look at it from a side view, it sticks out about 1/4" to 3/8". I checked the latch out and the locking mech , they both seem ok. The rubber boot seems to be fine, but when there is a load of clothes in the washer the door pops open. Any other suggestions?
Thanks,

Are you saying that the door is not locking or that the door is slightly ajar when in operation but is still locked?
Does it start when you close the door, only to stop shortly after?
Is the door hoop bent? You may have a bad latch assy. If you have 2 21's just swap doors and see if there is still a problem as that is easy to do. If not replace latch, should be under warranty.
Marc,
I'll swap the door and see what happens, but the door latch seems to be ok. What could be wrong with it anyway? During the cycle you can open and shut the door and then push to start again. When there is a load of laundry in the drum, the door will be pushed open, because the door isn't close enough to the lock mech, since it sticks out about 1/4" to 3/8" when you view it from the side and compare it to the one next to it. I hope this answers your questions. I'll let you know tomorrow after I switch the door.
thanks,

If the door is not locking shortly after you start the washer then you have a bad latch assy and you should get it replaced under warranty.
After switching the door, I found that the problem still existed. I opened the top and took the door locking mech out. After looking at it, I realized that the release bar was only coming across half way. the distributor switched it for nothing, but my question is why was it only returning half way. The one spring lever on the left didn't seem to be set properly and would not allow the latch to come all the way over. I can't think of anything else except that that's the way it came from the factory. I have only had them 3 months with no past complaints about the door not locking. Any suggestions on what happened?

It happens!!! Wouldn't sweat it. Probably a factory defect. Glad the dist took care of it. I have had various problems with the new style door lock assy since it came out but overall its better than the old one.
Thanks for your help Marc.
