I out in 12 of these stacks back in February. With one exception, all are running wonderfully. However, the one is another story.

When you run the bottom stack, it will sometimes run ok, but occasionally, after one or two minutes, it will eliminate the remaining time, go to 0 on the display, and otherwise act like the time is over, shutting off. If the upper dryer is running, it will take it out as well. No error indication, just seems to be the end of a normal cycle, just doesn't actually run for the full period.

Its intermittent. Maytag has replaced almost everything, including the thermisters twice.

I've had this now for nearly 6 months. The problem is still not resolved. I've told Maytag that they can no longer use my other machines to swap parts (I don't want my customers to be their test guinea pigs).

Any ideas?

Thanks
Charlie

Been there, done that!!!!!

Replace ignition box, or swap burner assy with another dryer's bottom, not the top unit, and see if you still have a problem.

Don't ask why, just try it.

Maytag doesn't have a clue.

Just a suggestion....

I had one do about the same when first installed and I was testing the dryers. I would start them all up and noticed one would go to zero within a couple of minutes. Since I did all the wiring in the store I checked the wiring from the panel to the dryer. I didn't find any problem, but when checking I did untape the connections at the dryer and then retightened the wire nuts. Since then the dryer has been working fine.

I just assumed I had a loose connection.

Electronic noise generated by the ignition module or the gas valve coils causing the computer to reset. We has a multitude of problems with Syneteks causing this condition. Check the computer and module harness for any LC filters that may be missing. Possibly a bad computer that has no resistance to noise. Also recheck you installation and ground. A Bad florescent light in the area is a long shot , but there was a case where this was the cause.

Duane - I've already checked the wiring. Thanks anyway!

MSK- We've swapped most everything except the computer. It didn't move.

TTLES - Please tell me more about these filters? Are these just caps, are something more? Where should they be?

Thanks
Charlie

Maytag/ ADC does not use any filters on the gas valve. They only use it on the coil of the motor contactors. The RC filter is ADC part # 824828. You can get it from ADC and install it on the gas valve coil. Give it a try, you got nothing to loose except about 5 bucks each or so for the part.

Like I said I had this problem a while back and was able to fix it by doing what I posted in my previous post. I did the same thing you have done swapping just about everything. Maytag was clueless. Finnally I changed the burner with another unit and never had a problem again.

I recall years ago we were selling ADC 285 dryers and we had a similar problem of erasing time.We found the coin drop optic switches were the culprit. Also, the dry sensors would do it too,but the computer would flash DSFL (but not always). Now these were single pocket units, so this may not relate but in desperation you'll look in the freezer for your car keys.Let us know how this plays out.
