An ad came out in my local paper yesterday for an opening of a new east coast hotdog. A full page color ad with a bunch of different coupons and two of them were bring in the coupon and get a free chili dog plus $1 cash. Now that’s the best deal I ever seen. So I walk into the place and go up to the register and hand the guy the coupon. The guy gives me this like dirty look and says do you want anything else, and I go no, and he says you only want the freebie, and I go yeah. So he goes back to making it and the other guy working there asks the guy making it what we got going on here, and the guy goes oh he only wants the freebie. So the other guy takes my coupon and hands me the dollar. Everything about the hot dog was good except the meat itself was small and real hard like it hat been sitting out awhile definitely not a gourmet hotdog like they advertise or something id pay for. As I left I handed the dollar back to the guy at the register.
I don’t understand why they would run this promotion if that is the attitude they are gonna give out when people use a coupon. Id never go back to this place again

I don't understand these people, what do you think they expected. You obviously were not the first customer to do that. To top it off they skimped on the one thing that might bring you back-the product.

My husband worked for a major hamburger chain. At every local hockey game they had an advertisement on the back of the ticket. For every special goal thing (yeah, I know a lot about hockey!) the holder of the ticket could take it into area location and get a free chili. At every game they made a big deal about this special point thingy happening and the crowd would yell "Chili!". The next day my husband would get innundated with crowds of people coming in for their free chili. They would rarely order anything else. The whole point was to get people to at least order fries and a drink with that. My husband's boss would scream at him the next day for all the coupons he had taken in forgetting about the free promotion. Scott would remind him that his store was in a location where the customers could afford to go to every home game. They could also afford to live there because they were frugal! Moral of the story: don't give it away if you can't afford to and especially if you expect something in return. The whole point is to get the customer to walk through the door. Once they are there it's up to you to make sure they come back in without being coaxed.
