Howdy everyone:
At the laundromat where i work part time, We have some Wasco 124s and 184s that all have worn Gaskets around the glass. These leak occasionally. I would like to help out my friend the owner to fix this at some point. Can some of you Wasco Wizards give a newbie some pointers on how to do this with a minimum of drama ?.
Thanks for the help.

If the gasket is torn or worn badly you just have to replace it. If it is not too bad many times you can rotate it 90 degrees or so and the leak will stop.

We rotate every gasket every day, 1/8 to 1/4 turn. Never had a leak. We only replace a gasket when it seems to become hard to the touch.
As for replacing the gasket, get ready for a frustrating experience, the first time you do it. I'm not sure it makes any difference if you place the gasket into the door frame first and then install the glass, OR, place the gasket onto the glass and then install the assembly into the door frame. I usually do the former.
But what does help is to soak the gasket in warm/hot water before trying to install it. Some liquid soap also helps. Be sure to work on a solid flat surface and use a towel on top of the work surface. I'm not aware of any special tool that Wasco may have to install the glass. When all else fails, call Wasco for help. They're great!

A piece of nylon cord or rope in the groove of the gasket will give you a little more "squish" area.not too thick, maybe a quarter inch or so.
Check your hook on the door.If the hook wear out too much the washer will leak, the hook cost $6-10,I always replace hook, clean the gasket, put a wire in the gap of gasket ,if it stll leak, then replace the gasket because the gasket is not cheap.

Just a follow-up on this thread from last summer. Thank you for the advice. We rotated the door gaskets and i bolstered the one bad leaker with some strings from an old mop head. Leak stopped just fine.
thanks again
