Save yourself a ton of headaches and remove the door and take it and the glass and gasket to a glass shop.

Beesamart sell a little glass installation tool, works well.
If you don't have the tool, you should heat the gasket in other dryer or cook them in hot water for 15 mins, put the gasket into the door them put glass in,use a little screw driver. You have to be quick! It sould take 5-10 mins.
I know it is not easy,Dexter's gasket is soft,SQ's door gasket is even harder,I cooked them for 30 mins first!
check the door gasket,if the gasket looks old,you may want to order a new one, otherwise you may lose your glass next time.

Hello, unfortunately theres no easy way to install the gasket. As Ken said, heating is the only way to go.A second set of hands is always helpful to keep the glass from popping out.Using lubricants isn't a good idea,it can prematurely eat the gasket. The tool that i've used fits into a drill and has a little ball on the end and you roll the gasket into place.Plain and simple, this job stinks..Good luck.

You're right but I can't count the number of glasses I've glued back in,well on the ones where the glass fell into th drum, not the ones where the glass mounted from the outside and fell and broke on the floor.

Dexter gasket pop out easier then SQ/Hubsch.The material is different,SQ/Hubsch gasket is much harder,I have to heat /cook them up for 20,30 mins but they don't come out as easy.
I change a few Dexter gaskets, stock them in my van all the time.
Dexter did improve the gasket a little the older one was bad.
Heat it up is only way to go,for the safty reason, you may want to wear safe glass and gloves.

I've heard of autoglass companies using a knoted waxed cord to ease the lip of the gasket to the outside. I'm not real sure how this works. They describe holding one end and pulling the other end. I've never seen it done, so my description is lacking.

Is the gasket worn out? I had one that got soft and worn, and ended up buying new glass when it fell out and broke in a million pieces all inside the dryer. Silcon glue is a short term fix, I have done that also. Keep an eye on the thing, order a gasket next time so you have one on hand so when you get stuck at your mat for something now you have a way to keep busy..

I take the door off, lay it on a towel. I put the gasket in the door first, then use a mixture of dish/wash soap and little water, lube up the gasket and glass. The push the glass in as much as you can, use a small screwdriver, may need 2, to work the rubber over the glass. It is not to hard, just go slow.

I guess I am not sure how all these suggestions beats paying $5 for a glass shop to pop it in.

I think I would be hard pressed to find a glass shop in my area to do anything for $5.

I bought a lot Beesmart's kits ,some work,some don't.
Beesmart's cheap glass installation tool is one of better kit, only cost $20.
If you have Dexter dryer, you will need one. Those galsses pop out easy,I just put one back yesterday.
I can put a used one back in 10 mins, new one about 20 mins(heat in dryer for 10 mins, before you do it).

Alliance sells a glass tool Part#221P4. (May be an old # as it dosn't come up on the parts CD)
I've been using it for years and I can put in a glass gasket in minutes. I wouldn't do it without it.

It's a pain in the butt putting the glass back in, but Bee Smart kit is the way to go. If you heat the gasget in boiling water to soften
good luck trying to handle a hot potato and put the glass in at the same time. Be patient and keep kool-forget the 10 to 20 minute time frame. I've put plenty in and i don't think i've ever done it in less than 20 minutes.

Good luck,
