Now, I have seen their web site and I have read their testimonials. What I want to know is what they are like in the Real World ? Is the coin operated version better or worse than the Neptune. Now I know SOMEBODY has them or has seen them. After all, they are made in the USA. Comment on total capacity, energy and water efficiency, durability, and cost of maintainance relative to the Neptune. Would you buy any more of them? I need to make a decision.

While I do not have any first hand knowledge of their washers, i did see there site and wasn't very impressed. I think you need to look at the overall picture when making a choice. What is your main issue for buying either one of these? Water usage, ease of installation, warranty, repair history, part cost and availablity?

While the Neptunes have come a long way since ther introduction they are still not perfect but are getting there slowly. I am glad they finnally gave the boot to Switch Reluctance Drives. Took them long enough to come to there senses. They need to do something about the door boot. I heard talk of them switching to black rubber but that remains to be seen. Hopefull their new style water seal will be better, time will tell. Soap lid and pins need to be redesigned. I think they need to come up with a better spin up, distribution program to handle out of balanced and suds conditions which is still a major problem.

You should consider the new Continental Aurora washer. When first introduced they had a few issues which have now all been corrected, including the ones in the field, no charge. They are all Stainless Steel and look like any other front load washer but soft mount. It is even available in gravity drain. Cost a little more than the neptune but its worth it. I have installed quite a few of them in the field in the past 6 months and haven't had one problem of any kind with them. The thing I like about them the most is that they will spin up pretty much regardless of the balance or suds condition. They handles these conditions much better than the neptunes do.

How much do these Continentals go for? With the glass door is their alot of customer complaints of no water in the machine?

Yes they do have glass doors, so the possibility of customer complaints / stupidity is increased. They were goin for around 1800 when they were first introduced, but that may not be the case anymore.

If you are looking for single load front load machines for commercial use the IPSO HF-55 12# capacity is a work horse designed for l'mats. Not to mention they use less than 1/3 of the water a top does. Mine are about 2 years old and have saved me almost 60% cost of the machine so far, I figure in 3 years the water saving alone will pay for the washers. They look and are built like any 18# hard mount washer.
Besides a barage of computor board problems, which I think was a batch mistake, and thye took care of me, I have had to adjust 1 door switch so far, and 2 handle broke, warrantied.

I guess I lead too much of a sheltered life. What is a 'Staber' ? I have never heard of them.

The energy efficiency and water usage look great, but aren't they trying to market a consumer product to a commercial customer.

Staber isn't marketing at all to consumers, and their marketing to commercial interests is marginal. A friend of mine tried to become a distributor in the Northeast, but the company was uncooperative. He has an early model machine that has been problematic. I believe they did take his advise and beef up the tub struts and belt. At Clean 01, they got alot of traffic at their booth, but don't know of any 'mats that purchased them. At that time they were considering a window lid -- altho' you can't see the wash action, you can at least see the machine is running.
