In the mat I’m looking at buying, I’ am thinks of using a TV to run PowerPoint ad’s and information.
I also own an Appliance Service business that sells reconditioned appliances.
What do you think of running ads for the used appliances? Would I be shooting myself in the foot trying to sell my mat customers washers & dryers?
Also will try to sell ad time/space to other local businesses. Has anyone done this?
I thought I had an original idea…but I see the local grocery store now has the same thing, advertising there specials.

Might be worth the effort. I'm sure there is some software similar to local cable news channel.

I'd hang your used appliance ads in your competitors stores!
Why give your customers ideas? You will make more off them at the mat, then by selling them a used machine.
I rip any ad for a washer or dryer off the bulletin board, immediately.

Depending on the volume of your store you may be able to make a deal with a local promo company.
I worked at a fitness center for abit, and we were actually paid 500/mo to run an advertising channel in the cardio room that had local ads injected into the programming. I cant remember the name of the company but I think it was a sister company of Clearchannel.
That being said, they were paying for the captive audience, (10-15 people at a time in the room riding bikes, EFX, etc...... looking
at a 52" tv for 30 min at a time.
I was thinking of renting screensaver space on my internet cafe, and adjusting my home page here to showcase businesses, but just havent had the time to spin it up.

We are an ad free zone and I think it is a well received change from the cluttered type atmosphere that boards can be if not well managed. Welcome your customers and show your appreciation for their biz by providing them with a nice place to wait out their wash instead of feeding them more ads, spam or whatnot.

Stinger,
I was also going to do a PP slide show to advertise other businesses in the area, but once I opened up I deciced not to for several reasons.
The amount of money you will make probably won't be worth it if you figure in all of your expenses of taking pictures and creating the slides.
The cost of a good digital camera.
The cost of the computer and TV to show the presentation.
The time needed to sell ads to businesses.
..................................
Instead, put in some video games to give your customers something to do (if they want) and you will still make money without all the work.
