Does anyone have a cheap source for HVAC filters on the web or one that will ship to NJ?

The local supply houses are too expensive and I'm having trouble finding someone on the web.

The ceiling exhaust filters are Home Depot standard (1"), but my roof units require 2".

One more thing, how often do you folks (especially in the Northeast) replace your filters for rooftop HVAC units?

I have been replacing the internal filters every 2 weeks while the heat or AC is on and every 3 months on the roof.

Thanks!

Mark,

I am assuming that you mean intake instead of ceiling exhaust filters?

I get the 99% 20x20x1 (3 for $7 at Home depot) for my two ceiling intakes and I pass the sweeper over them once a week and replace them about every 6-8 weeks.

I just checked my HVAC roof top units before the cooling season starts (16x?x2 ) and they still look clean after 9 months (replaced anyway). The HVAC filters I also get from Home Depot, but instead of a 2" I put in a 1" cheap glass filter then behind it I have another 1" 99% filter. I started this when doing construction and it filtered out all the concrete dust which is one of the hardest things to filter.

I have also ordered them from MWH.com (home depot) when they are on sale.

When A/c is running we also replace internal filters every 2 weeks .

Duane,

Intake / exhaust - I'm not sure what you call them! They're the ceiling vents that take air out of the store, so I assume they are exhaust.

However, I have heard of others pancaking 2 filters together in the HVAC unit themselves. What do you other HVAC experts out there think of this? It would be much cheaper and more convenient for me if I did this.

Thanks!

Mark,

intake or exhaust? I think the real name is Return Air Duct, I just wanted to make sure were talking about the same thing.

If you do pancake filters, I wouldn't put two 99.9% filters together, it may reduce air flow too much. I think you can buy 2" 99.9% filters, but they are expensive.
