Tony, I have found in NJ they seem to have very competitive rates. In some areas of the country you can get a much better deal with a local carrier, but that does not seem to be the case in this neck of the woods. This renewal period I got two other quotes and they were each about $1,000 more than the CLA.

CLA quote was about $1,500 more for less coverage. I'd like to do biz with CLA but the numbers just didn't work. I was a member of the Michigan Retailers Assoc. I got a great deal on workers comp and health insurance. I'll call and see if a laundromat fits their criteria.

Every quote I have ever received from CLA was a minimum of 25% higher than anyone else.

I have CLA, with $1m on everything. I pay about $1400, $1100, and $800, at my three stores for this coverage, annually. I was pleased when I added my second store under the same name, and the price was nearly half of the first store. I may even retitle my first store. Frankly, I haven't even shopped it out, since it seemed pretty reasonable. St. Paul seems pretty good (the CLA underwriter), and even arranged for free boiler inspections.

I use a local carier. I have priced out CLA and the result was about 25% more costs for about 30% less coverage.

The key to getting a good quote, and the reason for the CLA standard pricing, is to get a company that is farmiliar with the laundromat business. This really is a small, uncomon sector for the insurance world. My local arrier actually has a division that speciallizes in laundromats. Thais the reason for my good rates. They understand MY business.

I have shoped CLA, found no better deals. At one mat I can not get anybody to insure it at any price, it is to close to the Gulf of Mexico. CLA insures it at a fair rate. Guess it depends on where you are, always shop insurance every 3 or 4 years anyway.

We've checked into CLA a few times and each time they came back about 50% more than what I can get through my local insurance guy. We are now with Preferred Mutual. They write a lot of mats. We were with Hartford but they wanted to get out of writing mats and did so by increasing their premium from $2,000 a year to $4,500 a year. I got the message loud and clear and switched to Preferred. I will keep looking at CLA since I'd really like to do business with a company that supports the industry.
